The Best Man by Kristan Higgins

I received The Best Man (Book 1 in the new Blue Heron series) by Kristan Higgins, thanks to Edelweiss and Harlequin HQN.

The Best Man by Kristan Higgins introduces the Holland family, who own and run the Blue Heron Winery in upstate New York.  The Hollands are a founding family to the community and are upstanding citizens.  In The Best Man, we discover the baby of the family, Faith, was supposed to have gotten married 3 years prior, but Levi Cooper, the best man, changed all that. Levi grew up on the outskirts of town, living in a trailer park with his hardworking mother and baby sister.

I loved The Best Man.  Levi (swoon) was sexy and sweet. Who can resist a guy who bakes cookies in the middle of the night. Faith…I started out not liking her, but her character grew up and matured through out the book.  While I wasn’t happy with how she pinned all the blame on Levi, I’m glad she was able to accept it was the right choice in the end.

Throughout the book, we are given flashbacks of events that led up to modern day and it definitely helped with the character development.

I think The Best Man by Kristan Higgins is a great book to start off the Blue Heron series.  I gave the book 4 out of 5 stars, only because of Faith’s attitude in the beginning. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!

Now nearing her 30s, Lynnie is living her happily-ever-after in a small New England town. She shares her castle with her very own Prince Charming and their 2 (fur) babies.
