The Trap by Beverley Kendall

I received The Trap by Beverley Kendall via Netgalley & Season Publishing (Thank You!!)

When I saw The Trap as a galley option, what drew me in was the male pov and the fact that it’s a novella. Y’all know how I love novellas.

Overview: The Trap is a prequel to the upcoming Trapped. We’re introduced to Mitch and Paige, who find out they’re about to become parents. As the title and blurb proclaim, our “hero” comes to believe this was a thought out ploy to keep him close.

My Thoughts:  I have never read any of Ms. Kendall’s books before, so I went into this with no expectations. The storyline was one I’ve seen plenty of times, but I think it was written in a unique way. Ms. Kendall’s writing was able to grab my attention as a reader and pulled me in. The characters were so-so. Paige was likeable, but Mitch and his friend…not so much. I’m curious to see if he can redeem himself in Trapped to most readers standards. As of right now, I don’t see it happening.

Pros:  Great writing. Good character introductions.

Cons:  Unlikeable hero (but that can change).

I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. An interesting prequel, but not the best.

About Romantic Moments Book Blog

Lynnie is an avid reader with a soft spot for romance. Her addiction to all things lovey-dovey began when she was introduced to the black-haired, blue-eyed angel named Prince Eric at the age of 4. Once she realized she could never win his heart from Ariel, Lynnie aimed her sight on more realistic options, like Cory Matthews and the members of NSYNC. Now nearing her 30s, Lynnie is living her happily-ever-after in a small New England town. She shares her castle with her very own Prince Charming and their 2 (fur) babies. When she is not reading for pleasure, Lynnie is a freelance editor and writer.
